Plonter was founded in 1995 as a multimedia company but actualy the 1st move was opening the on-line store in June 1997

We've have corently a stuff of 13 people whice do all the work. We ship around 1300 orders a month (1/2001) with an avarage of 1,5m shekels a month. Our company multiply itself every year till today and we hope to continue this way next year as well.
We use very unconvetional ways in our approch to E-Commerce based on the basic idea that E-commerce is basicly the same as standard 100 years old commerce and our costumers demand the same quality of service when they buy on-line as they should get in a normal local store. this is also the reason we don't sale stuff like home appliances or furnitures :). Due to our growth on a monthly basis we add all the time new workers. It may cause some not enough training but we do our best to find good people. Our web site works on a very rare E-Commerce platform developed by us on an Apple Macintosh G3 computer. This wiredness supply us a very good protection from hackers since no one know how to play with the Mac OS :) The system is quite fast and handel today more then 3300 entrances to the main page daily (1/2001). Our hardware can support more then 10 times of this amount of surfers. We have 2 Frame Relay lines of 512K+128K and load balancing equipment from RadWare.
Operating system and drivers
Since that most of our customers tend to believe that they are very
technical people and know how to install the products we encounter some
minor problems which can create misunderstanding so we've decided to add
this page.
When you buy from us a complete computer system or some selection of
parts which you would like to create a computer from please try to
remember couple of important things :
1. Every computer system we build and supply without an installed
operating system was not checked completely because that only a full
installation of the OS and the drivers we can see that the system is
fully tuned and all the parts are fine.
2. In case that you've decided to order the OS (and we'll not charge
installation fee) or bring us your original copy (With some installation
fee) We'll do all the work for you.
3. In case that you've chosen the parts by yourself please try to read
before in FAQ files at the Mfg. Site or related hardware sites. Some new
parts can have problems because of bad drivers that came out with the
product so please remember to download the latest drivers before you call
for support.
4. When you decide to transfer or you replacing some old part with a new
one Please remember that Windows tend to keep information of the older
part and some times problems which now one could explain (Except that
Microsoft believe they can). So please try to remove any remaining
drivers of the older part before installation of the new one. The best
way is to format the hard drive and to re-install the OS but this thing
we'll offer you later after that you've tried everything else (and most
of the times it'll do)
5. To our sorrow we had couple of people that after that they've bought a
computer system they came for service couple of times and the system
they've build didn't function like it suppose to be. They claim that they
are experts and every thing was done perfectly but when we re-build the
system with does parts and installed the software with the drivers
everything worked fine.
6. There are cases which can't be solved like some TNT2 cards together
with some AMD VIA boards or Some VGA cards together with SB 128 from
Creative. We can't know all does stuff until we encounter the problem. It
can happen and we're sorry but there is no chance to know it before.
Where the products come from and how we give the support:
Plonter does not import the products it offers in the site (it's
rearlly that we import something and if we do so it's because that there
is no one else who want to bring it)
But we have very close relations with our suppliers so we ask them to
bring us special parts for testing, We're also an official IPI (Intel's
Product Integrator) , An official AMD reseller (From AMD Europe) and a
beta site for some products.
Most of the support we give by our people with consulting the importer of
the specific product. Some times the combination of various products can
result weird failures (OS and stuff) but most of the times it can be
solved.
We do not supply support on the most basic level of how to install a card
or a modem but only more advanced support. Please read the manual before
calling ? We charge for installation and if you feel that you are not 100%
sure about your knowledge with product installation then please allow us
to do the work.

Sometimes our system is problematic. The problem is that we have nearly
6000 products and we can't know what's going on in the importers storage.
It happens that when we order the parts for you we find out that it's not
in stock. We'll call you and let you know this information so you can
either chose another product or decide to wait.
You can always cancel an order which wasn't supplied yet or remove an
item or even receive the order and later on get the missing part
(Remember that it could cause for extra shipping charge or cancelation fee)
How comes that we're so cheap? Or where our products kept?
Plonter is an on-line store. We are not a branch of some real store,
Plonter does not keep product in stock (unless it's very minor like
floppy drives, simple modems, CD-R media and such. We don't have printers
so we can show them and you can't compare the quality of the picture
between various monitors at our office.
Because of the way we work we order the part each one for the order you
make.
Since that Plonter have much less expenses then a normal brick store we
try to offer better prices and when we get a special offer from the
importers we don't keep the difference for ourselves but we offer it to
you. This can cause lot's of shops to dislike us but as much as we buy
more we get better prices for the volume of purchases and you benefit
from it. The prices go even cheaper.
The price of your order is determent on the order time. The price in
Shekels is the price you'll pay with no connection to the $ rate on the
day of pickup. Also when the price go up! The US$ rate is the "High
Transfer rate" and you can see it updated daily at the front page.
We do not offer special prices for any reason except of BIG quantities
(25 hard drives or 10 monitors from the same kind is a big order) but not
for couple of computers or a $5000 computer system.
We're very hard with our payment policy but this helps us to keep the
prices as low as we can.
Since that we don't keep products in stock and computer products tend to
get cheaper every month (or less) we lower our prices whenever we get a
price update. A normal shop has stock so they can't take the prices lower
since that they've paid much more for it before.
There are some cases that we are a bit higher in the price then other
places. This can happen in one of 3 cases:
1.The shop bought a big stock and got a special price. (Office Depot
used to use printers as "lost leader" product which means that they don't
earn (Or even loose) on the product but the customer will buy much more
when he'll come to the store and by that they'll earn)
2.The product didn't come from a good source (not the official importer
or it's a refurbished product).
3.Some stores import some products by themselves. We can't compete with
it and we hope that you'll continue to check with us next time...
the prices and pricing
Prices and pricing:
The price of the product is determent at the time you make the order itself. It's based on the $ rate (High Ha'avarot Ve'Hamchaot of Bank Leumi). Please keet a copy of the order (You'll recive one also by E-Mail) The prices are not a subject we descuss. If you need more then 20 items from one product please ask us for special price E-Mail products without price are product we can't get any maybe we'll remove them out soon if we can't get 'em again. Please read the remarks. We try to be the cheapest on-line store. Please remember it when you compare us to others. We might have pricing mistakes, It's rare but it's a human error. We'll call you if we have such a problem and let youo know. You may choose to cancel the order with no additional costs or replace the item to another one or choose to pay the new price.

We don't have the time and anyway all the prices are listed at the site
and you can see it or print it by yourself.
BUT, We made a system that helps you to make a price offer so you can
show it around and make all the official stamps and signatures you need
to confirm the order but then you'll have to make the order again at the
site or fax this price offers of ours according to the way we offer our
services and products.
Delivery and the time it takes
Every order that arrive before 12:00 (and we have the credit card
information as well)
(That's include all the orders from the night before)
Will be processed by the following way : (Optimistic way)
Day 0 - You make the order (Most orders are done at night)
That can also be Thursday afternoon which is the same for us as Sunday
morning
Day 1 - We take the orders, Check if we have all the details, credit card
information and then take them apart by importers.
Then we call each importer and order the parts they represent
Day 2 - (hopefully) we receive those parts and pack them for you and
ship. If it's something to build it should take another day (Please
remember that if you didn't order assemble or it was some parts you'll
get it as parts and if there is no OS in the order that Hard drive will
arrive virgin from data)
Day 3 - Another day later we build the system for you and test it
Day 4 - We ship the products to you
Day 5 - You receive.
Normally we work 5 days a week so when you make an order or Thursday
afternoon we start to take care of the order only on Sunday morning. If
some product is delayed one or two days then all the chain is delayed. We
try to promise that an order will take 10 work days (that does not include
weekends. Most of the orders arrive on time. If we have some problems in
the process of the order we'll call you to let you know.
There are sometimes problems like Mail strikes, Earthquakes in Taiwan and
Christmas in the United states that create some difficulties in supply.
We hope that the 1st two will not happened so often and the 3rd one
create a problem usually on November and December.
We do not offer any compensation if we can't supply a part on time
because as we said that if the importer does not have it there is no
chance we can get it (we work with couple of importers so some times we
find solutions but not always).
We ship packages in couple of methods:
Most packages are shippen with "ZigZag" which also make the shipping confirmation with you
Some packages are sent via express mail with a masanger to your doorstep. The post does not call to confirm but if you're not at home they'' leave a note saying that you can call them and they'll come again.
Cost of shipping
Shipping fee is 29 shekels per order . this offer is alid only for shipments in Israel.
How to buy by us
The only way to make an order by us is by the Internet. We do not accept orders by phone or fax. The 1st thing is to open a client card and supply us all the neccesery information. Credit card information can be supplied on-line with our Verisign SSL system or by phone. In the end of the registration you'll recive an E-Mail that will confirm the registration. We'll not contact you or E-Mail you till you'll make your 1st order by us.
Terms of payment and how we charge
We accept all types of credit cards as well as money transfers, Cash payments (done in our office) and other types of payments with companies who buy from us regulary. You can pay us in any standard credit card methode except GAMISH program of Isracard. the credit card charge will be done at the day of shipping and so is the invoice. If you choose to pay with any other methode we'll still ask for credit information so we can make the order for you. The automatic way we charge is one payment with the last credit information you've supplied to us. Service during the warranty
The warranry for most of the products is valid only in our main laboratory in our office ! you can send us the product with a list of the problems you encounter with it and we'll solve it or send it to the supplier for fixing or replacement by his choice. Some suppliers has a laboratory in the major cities in Israel so please contact us before shipping so we can guide you where to send it ? E-Mail. We don't decide if to replace the item or fix it. normaly the proccess should take 7-14 days but some times the item is too old and hard to get (Specialy with hard drives and CPU's which have a very long warranty) and then we'll offer you another item with nearly the same spec or an upgrade path to something better. Please remember ! the warranty finish at exactly the day that is written in the invoice. not even one day later !. If during our check we find that the item is fine and nothing is wrong we'll charge you with our working time and also the shipping back to you. Otherways the shipping back is free during warranty time. Sometimes we encounter misusage of products because of over clocking or damaging instalation. The supplier will not replace an item which was abused and so are we. Sometimes we get a computer for fixing from you which the system was not installed in the right way or old version of drivers were installed. We'll have to charge you for re instalation and also we'll need the original CD with the OS installed. Please remember that we're not responsible to any software or data installed. only for the product itself. We do not make backups of your data is the hard drive is sent to the supplier. Please do it by your own. Always try to download the newest drivers from the Mfg website 1st and then check with us.
Product returns and order cancelations
We offer 14 days money back but there are few importent things you should know :
The product should return to us in it's original package un harmed including all the packaging, manuals, drivers.
If there are marks of usage we'll carge you for the decrise of value (Ink in printers and such)
The money will be returned by the same methode it was payed
The sum we return is the price of the item on the day of arrivel to us in our web site. Computer parts loose the value and we only refund you by the value of the item when we get it back.
It's up to you to make the product arrive to us.
5% or 100 shekels will be reduced from the returned sum for handling
If you've decided to cancel an order during proccess time because of any reason including no confirmation for the deal from your credit card company will make us to charge you for the work invested by ordering the parts for you from our suppliers. We'll charge you for 5% or 100 shekels (The lowest between those two). if we've sent it allready and you decided to to accept it from any reason we'll charge you also 40 shekels for the shipping
If the order include a complete computer system that was build for you will have to charge you for 1 hour work for taking the system apart. those sums will be charged automaticly from your credit card and invoice will be sent to you.
